Beyond War - Thank you Grandpa

My grandpa passed away this year after struggling to stand up for a long time. He wanted to be with his family when he died but due to his physical condition and Covid restrictions in Japan, we weren’t able to make that happen.

Even after he started to lose his memory, he still remembered so much of his WWII experience. My grandpa was a peaceful person, and he very willingly shared his experiences in hopes that we would all cherish and protect the peace we have.

I talked with him the last time I visited him before he passed. He told me to be kind and work hard for my family and for others. He inspired me to create this project for two reasons: to help preserve the memories of WWII survivors, and to hopefully make people think about how precious peace is.

I dedicate this project to those who survived the war and voice their difficult experiences for the good of the next generations, and to my grandparents.
